So whats been going on? Well not a lot tbh I've been mostly focusing on pencils and overall drawin speed, so i haven't done a whole lot of digital work. I've got several things to show though.

Zorns, this guy has amazing brush strokes and such powerful use of colour, gonna try and do more of his work in future.

A relatively terrible speed paint...

Something i've been chipping away slowly. I posted a thumbnail way back but never really worked on it till a lot later.

Not a lot i know :/, will try to get more stuff when time allows it..

*edit* after getting my new monitor have to say the last image looks ridiculously dark, I dunno does that look better? Do comment if you can see any difference as it will help a lot for future reference. Thanks

Ack...its been a long time since i last posted... i have been doig stuff but ive been doing a lot of work on studies on paper, also haven't had the motivation to do any personal work for a while. Rather than doing something new I got some advice from some of my previous work and several good friends recommended that I polish the girl sketch I did.

I experimented heavily with this piece, to the point where i had to roll back 2 version because it was starting to look really messy. So in hindsight it should of only taken extra 4 hours but ended up taking a lot more :).

Hi peoples, Christmas holidays is approaching (public holidays w00t!!). Unfortunately im not going to have my beloved computer with me so I'd thought i'd update what little i've done over the week ( I'm slacking :/).
First off some sloppy quick studies (wish i had more time on them :/).

Oh yes i forgot i did a sargent studies a few weeks back, forgot to upload it earlier.

Here's some personal stuff

A speed paint (sort of) experiment, results were semi sucessful

A 20 minute failure of a speed painting, tried doing some experimenting, I'll need to do some more

A older speed paint where i screwed up the composition.

Well That's it from me (for about another week or so), I probably won't be able to update too often after christmas as I'm gonna be very busy.

Right, well i haven't really much between the last update till about nowish, primary reason was because i got a job, however unfortunately i was actually lazing about for a while to relax, now that i've started work im getting back into a routine again.

Atm, what i've done are mostly studies and master paintings: here's some examples

For personal work, i really haven't had much time, but here's a sneak preview of something ive start last weekend, unfortunately i won't have time till weekends to work on this, but for this piece I'll try and finish it as a illustration rather than concept piece.

Haven't updated for a whole month :/ Thats pretty bad, anyways i've been going through a phase of art block so had problems creating any work, instead i've been doing various studies and foundations, probably won't post a little while longer.

ah damn, ive been a little bit lazy with update and work in general, due to some personal problems, unforutnatley i havent been able to do much, however, i have another batch of quick sketches and a more polished sketch for my project, i might do several more 'polished' sketches before settling down on a final design.

Well its september and, i haven't updated this in for about two weeks, my bad. I haven't been slacking just been going backwards a little and spending time doing some speed paints whilst doing some character designing for a mini project I'm doing.

First off is the speed paints, I've been doing speed paints to focus more on composition,depth and general story telling. Been experimenting whilst doing these so they might be somewhat inconsistent in technique (especially that oval spaceship one) Subject matter is pretty random just whatever comes to my mind really.

Next is some sketches for the mini project, I'm basically designing characters in a urban setting, i was thinking maybe like a kind of small gang or something I dunno. Anyway I think I'm gonna have to do another batch of sketches, I think i was getting closer as I was doing these.

Oh yeah almost forgot, I also did a film still study (guess where its from ;)), its a speed painting so the proportions are quite off, but Was trying to focus on brush economy and silhouettes.

Here's the overseer concept, looks more like a necromancer lol, I skipped the colour test process as it was far too rendered to be done effectively. might clean him up a little later but thats for another date.

Hm.. never got round to that colour stage :D, maybe later today..after doing some environment concepts, instead I took one of the silhouettes for the farseer and did a more refined sketch of him. He'll probably be more of a wizard or mage than overseer :D.

Here's a sketch/concept of a the overseer i believe? It's based off a challenge one of my friends set. I don't usually take black and white renders this far, but i wanted to see what level of detail i can make in a short time span, anyways I'll make some quick colour mocks soon also with some composition shots to put him in a scene

Well been attempting speed paints and general quick paintings, I was working on a speed paint of this and decided to take it a little futher, got extremely lazy towards the end, espeically on the background, couldn't even be bothered to define it properly....:(

I know right?! Well lately i've been doing a lot of studies and whatnot, not too much creative stuff as of late, I'm trying to work out my brush strokes which im trying to incorporate into the studies as well as my own stuff.

aside from doing speeds paints I've also been trying to improve my design skills, especially my armour designing, unfortunately I'm still relatively n00bish when it comes to that area, so I decided to try and design a armored knight from a fantasy world.
Here's a WIP of him: Still needs a lot of work and im definately struggling when it comes to finer detail and leg area. His pose is pretty stiff, but i wanted to focus on design not illustration as practice

In case ppl are curious he came from a bunch of thumbnails, as shown below, they're pretty shitty and not really meant for ppl to look at other than myself. But I tried to explore different culture designs, need to do more of these.

Well I decided to attempt something ridiculous, I tried to do a master painting from William Bouguereau, this guy's mastery over colour and form is ridiculous, his paintings feel so lifelike and the variety of colours he uses is not apparent until you actually try and do a master painting.
Well I'm def not going to attempt another one any time soon, if so I'm definitely not gonna do the entire painting. But at least I learnt a lot during the process.

Also did a speed paint tonight, just started off with random shapes and ended up with this, spent about a hour and a half on it, lighting still needs work, bit Kekai influenced.

Eh, aint had time to do much, especially with job hunting and doing some other work for a mod group, thought id post some stuff up, first one was a 25 minute speed paint, i'll most likely go back to this at some point, just not atm, second one is a incomplete sargent master study I did a while back, got lazy and couldn't be bothered to finish it.
